Pozas de lixiviacion Artesanal, donde se vierte mercurio Más de diez mil pobladores del Valle Condebamba consumen agua contaminada producto de los relaves de la minería informal ubicada en el cerro Algamarca, jurisdicción de Cajabamba, así lo dio a conocer el burgomaestre de esa provincia, Carlos Urbina Burgos.
De acuerdo a los informes emitidos por DIGESA (Dirección General de Salud Ambiental), en las aguas de la zona se ha encontrado metales en elevadas cantidades.
“Hablamos de plomo, arsénico, cianuro, fierro, esa agua es consumida por la población y utilizada para actividades agropecuarias”.
Los problemas en Algamarca, a consecuencia de la minería informal no se han resuelto. Esa solución parece lejana.
No hay acción por parte del ministerio de Energía y Minas, ni tampoco de la propia empresa Shulliden Sahuindo (actual propietaria de la veta), lamentó el alcalde. Son más de cinco mil los mineros informales que están apostados en esta zona. Estos mineros, según se conoce, son de diferentes partes del país.
El problema está acrecentando, advirtió Urbina.El alto costo del oro, Urbina advirtió además, que un “conflicto social” se está gestando en Algamarca, y que las consecuencias pueden ser graves si no hay una real decisión política de poner fin a esta situación.
Un sector de la población está de acuerdo con este tipo de actividad pues se ha dinamizado su economía. La minería ha constituido un eje de desarrollo para ellos.Por otro lado, la gente de no acepta minería y que denuncia que el consumo de agua contaminada está matando a sus animales y generando enfermedades a los niños, se enfrenta abiertamente con este sector.
Es una situación tensa la que se presenta en Algamarca, una situación que puede acabar en un enfrentamiento entre estos dos sectores, señaló Urbina.
La Dirección Regional de Energía y Minas dio a conocer que en el Cerro Algamarca en la ciudad de Cajabamba problema latente de minería informal, son miles los mineros informales que extraen oro de más de 60 pozas de procesamiento, también dijo que los mineros informales de la Asociación San Blas y los y los de la Chilca, están haciendo caso omiso a la Resolución Directoral No. 02-2009-GRCAJ/DREM, donde se dispuso la paralización inmediata de los trabajos de extracción minera en la zona.
